Getting ahead of the game is very popular at Hartselle High School. This is one reason that the class Sports Media was created. It is one of the many opportunities for students at HHS to participate in. For students who are interested in sports without necessarily feeling inclined to play them, an elective like Sports Media is an incredible choice.
Sports Media is taught by Coach Deline. Coach Deline came to Hartselle H.S. after getting her bachelor in Science and Health, Physical Education and Recreation at UNA.
Coach Deline designed the class to “give students who have an interest in areas such as sports journalism, video content [creation] , graphic design, and social media” an opportunity to thrive.
In Sports Media, students can participate in activities such as the Hartselle High Sports Media youtube channel. They post videos every week giving you highlights about the sports and what happened during the week. Students can also participate in the Hartselle High Podcast.
Coach Deline decided to start this class because she wanted students “ to be connected to our athletic programs without being an athlete.” One student in the class, Payton Fetner, says that she enjoys Sports Media because “it’s a fun way to express my creativity and interest in media and designs.”
Sports Media is an innovative and creative addition to the repertoire of classes available at Hartselle High School. For any student interested in sports, media or creation, Sports Media is an excellent option to consider.
