Austyn Randolph: Agriscience Enthusiast

As the new agriculture teacher here at Hartselle High School, Austyn Randolph's commitment to instilling knowledge, determination, leadership and practical skills into his agricultural students at HHS is truly commendable. Though new to the Tiger teacher team, Austyn Randolph is surely welcomed by all staff and students. Agriculture is an understated but vital field that goes beyond planting and harvesting crops; it teaches valuable morals and hard work to the future of American leaders. Only the agricultural elite are capable of teaching such a pivotal field of work.

Randolph has always felt an appreciation for agriscience. Stemming from previous interaction at Hartselle, Randolph's love for agriculture was capable of growing. Randolph’s never ending ambition, hardcore work ethic and persistent religious beliefs have helped him reach his goals. With encouragement from his peers, family and his belief pushing his love for earthly treasures, Randolph was able to come back to Hartselle and teach about his passion.

Agriculture is often a career that is highly misunderstood, and often those that are in it are stereotyped. It may look like these students only plant seeds, water plants and reap the fruits of their labor, but agriculture is more than that. Ag. builds future leaders who are the very heart of American existence, but sadly that number is slowly diminishing. According to Randolph “As of this year, less than 2% of the American population are farmers. This number continues to decline each year…”

Instewing career excellence into his undergraduates, Randolph plans to increase these numbers and build competent students for the farm life. While learning these extreme work habits, these students are preparing themselves for successful living. Randolph also encourages people to try the Future Farmers Association and states “....no matter your background, upbringing, or interest, FFA has a spot for you.” Whether you like planting or you don't, FFA exposes great leadership opportunities and helps one learn the importance of preserving agronomy.

Austyn Randolph is open for discussion and is ready to water the seeds of improvement planted into future students. If you would like to join or know more about FFA and agriculture, email him at austyn.randolph@hartselletigers.org .
