Hartselle High School (HHS) students crowded for “A Fairytale Ending” at Brick Haven in Cullman Jan.18 for the Les Amies-hosted Winter Formal. All 10th-12th grade girls received personal invitations to the dance. This year’s invitations featured a hand-stamped wax seal. Girls selected their ideal long, formal dress, picked out flowers, and selected the perfect shoes weeks in advance. Finally, on the day of the formal, attendees spent hours on their hair, makeup, and getting dressed.
Despite the dreary evening with
sporadic showers, groups set out mid-afternoon to get photos. After pictures, many groups ate dinner at various restaurants in Cullman. At 8p.m., Les Amies began leadouts. Each member of the sorority was escorted by a sorority big brother or her date as parents and guests watched. The dance began after leadouts. Attendees danced for hours until leaving the event.
Everything was beautifully decorated. Social media was flooded with pictures from the formal; parents and students alike posted pictures with their groups and dates. The night appeared to be “A Fairytale Ending” for many HHS students. When the night ended and they thought the stress from formals was over, students realized prom was right around the corner.
