Senior Spotlight: Hannah Watson on moving to HHS, First Priority, and Chorus

When did you move to HHS? How was that transition? What helped it become smoother? Did you end up enjoying it?

I moved to HHS at the beginning of my junior year.  This transition was tough because I was leaving my school, friends, and community that I had known my entire life.  However, I was able to be in chorus, get involved, and meet new friends that greatly helped with my transition and make my experience at HHS one to remember.

Do you remember your first day of school? How did you feel?

I honestly do not think I can forget the first day of school (haha). I was nervous because I still was not sure what to expect, but I was also excited because of the new opportunities that were before me.

What advice would you give to new HHS students?

My advice would be to get involved in different activities and clubs that the school offers and stay true to yourself.  Do not let others try to drag you down and do not worry too much about what others say about you.

How did you get involved with First Priority? What did you like about it? What were/are your hopes for FP?

I first found out about First Priority at the prayer meeting we had before school started my junior year. Pastor Jeremy Wilson told me about it and I could not wait to be apart.  I liked that First Priority was a safe place for people to express their feelings or thoughts and receive solid Godly advice about the situation. I also liked that it was a footstep in the door to spreading the Gospel to other classmates and students. I hope that First Priority grows tremendously and students gain the courage to boldly witness to others about their faith in Christ, leading them to have a personal relationship with God.

What made you join chorus? Do you have a favorite memory from it?

I joined chorus because I have loved music my entire life, and I had heard about the program from other students and wanted to be a part.  Chorus was a way that I could be involved and meet others while developing my skills and talents.

How long have you been playing piano and singing?

I began playing the piano almost 10 years ago, and I have been singing pretty much since I could talk.

What do you do outside of school?

Outside of school I work at Hartselle gymnastics, I am a member of our worship team at church and I volunteer there and help when and however I can.

What would be your advice to upcoming seniors?

My advice to upcoming seniors would be to make the most of your last year at HHS.  It will be over before you know it.  You do not want to live in regret because you were not a part of something that you wish you had been.

What are your future plans?

For now, I plan to attend Wallace State Community College and pursue a degree in Music Performance, and ideally go on to a four year college which I am still undecided about.

Do you have any goals for your future?

My goals for my future are to open a studio where I will eventually give private piano lessons and give students the opportunity to experience the joy that music brings while also being in the ministry.

Congrats, Hannah!
