The 21st century is no stranger to advanced technological breakthroughs. From the next best phone to a brand new supercar, we have a wide variety of new, innovative technologies to review. Starting with the alleged email leak revealing the upcoming PlayStation 5. According to this supposed email, Sony has planned to completely unveil its next-generation console February 12, 2020 at an event nicknamed the PlayStation Meeting. This event will be the first time all PlayStation gamers receive cutting edge information on the up and coming console. Attendance at the event is rumored to include Activision, EA, Ubisoft, and Square Enix. Sony Entertainment has yet to release any details regarding price points, names, or the date the console will be open for the public to purchase, although it is rumored to be released early next year. You can look ahead and be excited for new games such as The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima both of which are going to be released for PS4 but should be compatible for the PS5 as well.
Alongside the PS5, Microsoft has confirmed some new details revolving around the XBOX Scarlett. Hardware will include a custom-designed AMD processor, high bandwidth GDDR6 memory, and their next-gen solid state drive (SSD). There is no official name given to the XBOX Scarlett yet nor is there an exact release date to look forward to, but it is rumored to be coming out around the holidays next year. They are working on making it four times faster than the Xbox One. It has also been rumored to have cross compatibility for your controllers, you will be able to play with anyone online without the hurdle of cross-platform playability issues. Microsoft wants to make it possible for any generation Xbox-game to be played on the Scarlett. They want to make games load much faster than they do on any other Xbox yet. Maybe they’re being overly ambitious. Maybe it’s only a dream to come much later in the future of console gaming, but if pulled off successfully, Microsoft may have that first place spot on the console market. Right alongside Project Scarlett, you can look forward to Halo Infinite dropping around the same time as the new Xbox.
