Keegan Zanda practiced tirelessly the past four years, driving up to the soccer fields, running, and practicing his craft. Now this season, he runs across the field in a number one Hartselle jersey scoring numerous times during each game. He is currently the top scorer in the nation. Zanda, who signed with The University of Mobile, set a record as the first Tiger soccer player to sign and play with a college team.
Zanda has been playing soccer for roughly fourteen years and has 43 goals in-depth for this season and scores 2.7 goals per game. Though, Zanda does not settle with this goal: he plans to continue to work hard and aid his team to more victories.
In his 2020 Madison Blaze Club Season Highlights video on his Keegan Zanda youtube channel, he scored twenty goals and got five assists. This video shows him defending, passing, scoring, blocking, and assisting. Zanda believes this hard work has prepared him for the future and taught him vital life lessons. He said he has learned to “Never be satisfied with where you stand, [and] always strive for better in anything you do.”
Though he has prepared his whole life for it, Zanda says playing at the collegiate level brings more challenges. He said, “Honestly, I am kinda nervous about all of it. Going to play at the next level will be very scary to start out, but I know God is in control and there is a reason he has blessed me with this opportunity, so overall I’m very excited.”
Zanda signed the scholarship to play for the Mobile Rams on Jan. 4, 2021. He scored all five points when Hartselle beat Danville 5-2. The Mobile Ram’s 2020 soccer season was moved to the spring due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The HHS soccer team recently won the Area Championship. They will be hosting the first round of playoffs Thursday April 22.
Zanda, a member of Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society, will graduate from HHS in May. He has prepared and is ready to take on this new challenge.
