At the high school, a new type of classes are on the rise. Students are given the opportunity to take career tech classes, which give students a pathway into possible future careers. Mrs. Edde leads the education pathway. If you have any interest in having a career in the education field you should definitely take this class. This class will give you preparation for college, hands on experiences, and a look at future tests you would have to take to be a teacher. The course is spread out over all four years but is stack able if needed. Don’t worry Freshmen you still have a chance to take all four classes.
I interviewed our very own Mrs. Edde on her views on the class. When I asked how she felt about this year and the future generation of teachers, she said that he is “excited and loves to see the enthusiasm for teaching.” Mrs. Edde has taught the education career classes for six years. Her favorite thing about the class is “watching her students perform a successful lesson.”She loves to “see the look of accomplishment on her students faces and the excitement they express” to her.
In the program, there are four classes that area step ladder to the next. Mrs. Edde believes the classes are a perfect way for students to see how they like teaching and get a feel of it before jumping into college. This class gives lessons that most others wouldn't learn until college, so students will be ahead. During the program students will get many hands on experiences in the classroom. She sets up days where her students go next door to Burleson to teach a class of their very own. With this class you can also join the club Future Teachers of America (FTA). In this club you complete volunteer hours that will help you get extra teaching experience.
The first class you take is Education and Training where you get a feel for the basics of teaching. You do projects and learn the theories and techniques of teaching. Your next class is Teaching 1. In this class you will learn how to manage a classroom and go out to the school for hands on learning. In teaching 2, the next class, you go out more and get to actually teach a class. You go out to Burleson between two and three times a week. In the final class you spend your class time in the class of the grade you have an interest in. You get to spend your two hour class period, yes it takes two electives, going to one of the elementary schools, the Intermediate school, Junior High, or even our own High School. Hartselle is molding future teachers who will change the world!
